Choose the right relationship

Use your own account to manage your own exposure. To act for another adult, obtain their authorization; being a spouse or relative does not itself establish permission. Guardian cases in Offtrace cover non-intimate child information. Websites may request proof through their own processes.

Limit the information you collect

Use a neutral case title and the minimum link needed. Do not save a child's full name, school, identity documents, passwords, or intimate media in the workspace. Review public profiles, contact details, and the source site's reporting controls.

1. Begin with accounts and posts you are authorized to change.
2. Ask the relevant publisher to remove eligible information through its official route.
3. For a non-explicit image of someone currently under 18, review Google's dedicated image-removal process as a separate step.

Use specialist help for intimate imagery

If imagery was created when anyone depicted was under 18, do not create a case or collect its URLs, screenshots, or descriptions in Offtrace. NCMEC Take It Down is a free worldwide resource for the person pictured, including adults now. Do not download or share imagery to use it. NCMEC's CyberTipline is another direct reporting resource.

Keep each person's privacy separate

Offtrace accounts are for adults and do not provide a shared family vault. Record only the cases you are authorized to handle. A guardian workflow does not include covert access to another person's accounts or deletion of their data without authority.
