Offtrace

Leave an old account with a clear plan.

You may want to remove a few posts, hide a profile, or close an account entirely. Decide what should change before using the platform's own controls, and track remaining copies as separate tasks.

Choose the change you actually want

List the account or specific posts you want to address. Check the platform's explanation of deleting a post, changing visibility, deactivating a profile, and deleting an account. These controls can have different effects. Use the official help center for the service rather than assuming one platform's rules apply everywhere.

Review access and what you want to keep

Before closing an account, check whether it is used to sign in elsewhere, receive recovery emails, or access purchases. Update those dependencies first. If you want to keep permitted personal records, review the platform's export tools and store the export securely outside Offtrace.

  1. Check connected services and active subscriptions through their own settings.
  2. Keep passwords and recovery codes out of case notes.
  3. For Google specifically, review the account-deletion guide: deletion can remove data and access to its services. Downloading Google data does not itself delete it.

Use the platform's own controls

Sign in directly to the service and review its deletion or reporting instructions. If you cannot access your own account, use its official recovery route. Read the confirmation carefully before deleting anything. Offtrace does not sign in, recover accounts, or perform deletion for you.

  1. Record which action you took and when, without saving credentials.
  2. Check the platform's stated completion and recovery conditions.
  3. Keep any confirmation in your own secure records and set a follow-up date if needed.

Track remaining copies and search results

An old post may have been copied to another website. Treat that copy as a separate request to its publisher. If a removed or changed page still appears in Google, review the outdated-content route. A closed account is not evidence that every copy is gone; record only the outcomes you can confirm.

Eligibility and website policies can change. Review the official process before sending a request.
